pharmachologic effect

Pharmacological action - follicle-stimulating.

Stimulates the growth and maturation of follicles, increases the level of estrogens, activates the proliferation of the endometrium.

Indications

Infertility (including unclear etiology): stimulation of one dominant follicle in patients with hypothalamic-pituitary-related disorders (including those with polycystic ovary syndrome), stimulation of multiple follicle growth during assisted reproduction methods.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to menotropins; Persistent ovarian enlargement or the occurrence of ovarian cysts (not caused by polycystosis syndrome); Abnormalities of genital organs (incompatible with pregnancy), uterine fibroids, gynecological bleeding of unexplained etiology, ovarian, uterine or breast cancer, primary ovarian failure.

Side effects

Possible in 3-5% of cases: dyspeptic disorders, pain in the epigastric region and lower abdomen, flatulence, fever, arthralgia, pain in the mammary glands and at the injection site, moderate increase and the formation of ovarian cysts. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome: early signs - severe pain in the abdomen, nausea, vomiting, weight gain, late (may lead to death) - hypovolemia, electrolyte imbalance, ascites, hemoperitoneum, pleural effusion, hydrothorax, thromboembolism.

Interaction

Clomiphene citrate may increase the response of the follicle. The use of GnRH agonists requires, as a rule, an increase in the dose of metodine. Do not mix with other drugs in the same syringe.

Dosing and Administration

Ï / ê and â / ì (the solution is prepared immediately before use). For 75-150 IU in the first 7 days of the cycle or every other day at 225-375 IU for a week. In the presence of ovulation and the absence of pregnancy, the course can be repeated at least twice (2 cycles).
