Pharmacodynamics
Choline salicylate is a derivative of salicylic acid, has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect associated with inhibition of PG synthesis. Local applied 20% solution stops or moderately relieves pain.
Indication
Acute catarrhal inflammation of the external auditory canal (including complicated by a bacterial infection), tympanic membrane and middle ear; before washing the external ear canal.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to salicylates or other NSAIDs (including aspirin asthma), perforation of the tympanic membrane.
pregnancy and lactation
Given the nature of the drug and the potential danger caused by salicylates, it is not recommended to use the drug during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
Side effects
Allergic reactions; with prolonged use, as well as in patients with a perforation of the tympanic membrane, hearing impairment may occur.
Dosing and Administration
Adults, usually 3-4 drops in the external auditory meatus 3-4 times a day.
