E01 Thyroid gland diseases associated with iodine deficiency and similar conditions
Hormonal deficiency of the thyroid gland due to iodine deficiency in the body, Goiter endemic, Iodine deficiency alimentary state, Iodine deficiency disease, Iodine Deficiency, Endemic cretinism
Composition and form of release
1 tablet contains potassium iodide 262 μg, which corresponds to 200 μg of iodide; In a blister of 25 pcs., In a box of 2 or 4 blisters.
pharmachologic effect
Pharmacological action - filling iodine deficiency.
By the type of feedback inhibits the synthesis and the release of thyroid-stimulating hormone, which stops the growth of goiter, normalizes the production of thyroid hormones, which is disturbed by the lack of iodine.
Pharmacodynamics
After absorption from the gastrointestinal tract enters the blood, from the blood is absorbed by the thyroid gland, where it is oxidized to iodine, which is used for iodination of tyrosine and its conversion into mono-and diiodotyrosine (thyroid hormone precursors).
Indications
Prevention of the development of diseases caused by iodine deficiency (prevention of goiter in areas with iodine deficiency, pregnancy, adolescence, etc.); Treatment of goiter and other iodine deficiency diseases in children (including newborns and adolescents) and adults (young age).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to iodine, expressed and hidden (for doses exceeding 150 micrograms of iodine per day), hyperthyroidism, benign tumors, etc. focal and diffuse autonomy of the thyroid gland, especially in old age (for doses of 300-1000 μg / day); Herpetiform (senile) dermatitis of Dühring.
pregnancy and lactation
During pregnancy and lactation, application in preventive doses (in iodine-deficient regions) is especially recommended.
Side effects
Hyperfunction of the thyroid gland (when using daily doses above 150 mcg - for the prevention of goiter in the presence of thyroid gland sections with uncontrolled internal secretion of hormones, especially the elderly, or doses above 300-1000 mcg - for treating goiter in adults), the phenomenon of iodine (fever , Acne, swelling of the salivary glands), an increase in the potassium content in the blood (including with limited renal function and simultaneous intake of potassium-sparing diuretics), allergic reactions.
Interaction
The effect is weakened by antithyroid drugs. With simultaneous use with potassium-sparing diuretics, the risk of developing hyperkalemia increases.
