Iron deficiency anemia (treatment and prophylaxis), caused by various causes: as a result of the increased need for Fe during pregnancy and lactation, during the period of intensive growth and reconvalescence after prolonged serious illnesses; Prolonged bleeding (including with peptic ulcer of stomach and duodenum); Decreased absorption of Fe in chronic diarrhea; Inadequate and unbalanced nutrition.
Contraindications. Hypersensitivity, high content of Fe in the body (hemosiderosis, hemochromatosis), a violation of utilization of Fe (aplastic anemia), a condition after resection of the stomach, bleeding; Children's age (up to 6 years - for Tardiferon, up to 12 years - for Sorbifer durules).
Carefully. Stomach ulcer and 12 duodenal ulcer.
Dosing. Dragee and tablets are taken orally (without chewing), 30 minutes before meals, drinking 100 ml of liquid. After the normalization of the Hb indices, the treatment is carried out for 1-3 months until the Fe depot is completely saturated in the body.
The usual dose of the drug in terms of Fe in adults is 100-200 mg / day for treatment, 100 mg / day for prevention and maintenance therapy. Children - 3 mg / kg / day.
Sorbifer durules (1 tablet contains 320 mg of Fe sulfate and 60 mg of ascorbic acid): adults are prescribed 2 tablets 3 times a day. With anemia in I-II trimesters of pregnancy - 1 tablet once a day, in the third trimester and during lactation - 1 tablet 2 times a day.
Tardiferone (1 tablet contains 80 mg of Fe2 + and 30 mg of ascorbic acid): to treat iron deficiency anemia for adults and children over 10 years - 1-2 tablets per day for 1 hour before meals; Children over 6 years of age 1/2 tablet a day. For prophylaxis to pregnant women - 1 tablet every other day in II-III trimesters.

Interaction. Mutually reduce absorption when combined use of tetracyclines, D-penicillamine, tea, egg yolk. Anthracides containing salts of Al3 +, Mg2 + and Ca2 +, reduce the absorption of preparations of Fe.
Special instructions. It is effective only in iron deficiency anemia and is ineffective in anemia of other etiology.
Avoid concomitant administration with other Fe-containing drugs (risk of overdose).
Staining the stool in a dark (black) color against the background of taking Fe-containing preparations does not matter.
