White or white with a yellowish hue of crystalline powder. Almost nerastvorim in water, very little soluble in alcohol, soluble in oils.
Pharmacology
Pharmacological action - progestagenic.
As a synthetic analogue of progesterone (5-6 times weaker) binds to specific receptors on the surface of cells of target organs, penetrates into the nucleus and increases the synthesis of RNA (ribonucleic acid). Stimulates the transition of the mucous membrane of the uterus from the proliferative phase to the secretion phase, reduces the contractility and excitability of the uterus and fallopian tubes, their sensitivity to oxytocin, creates the necessary conditions for the development of a fertilized egg in the uterus, promotes the proliferation and secretion of the terminal sections of the mammary glands, inhibits the synthesis and release of luteinizing hormone from the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland. It is not destroyed by enzymes of saliva and gastrointestinal tract, therefore it can be applied enterally and sublingually. After absorption, rapid biotransformation in the liver undergoes the formation of pregnanediol and pregnenolone. Excreted by the kidneys.
