Russian Minister of Sport Mutko said that he worries matter to the study of Meldonium

18 Aug 2016

Russian Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko told reporters that he was concerned about the issue of the ongoing study on Meldonium, tabled by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) list of banned drugs.

Meldonium (mildronate) was included in the list of banned drugs from January 1, 2016. WADA April 13 stated that based on the results of the intermediate research content of less than one microgram of Meldonium in doping sample athlete donated before March 1, 2016, is a valid indicator. Later, WADA President Craig Reedy said that the agency expects to receive the final results of a study on Meldonium no later than mid-June.

"Yes, there is a problem of meldonium, but it is not today, and not the Russian. Mildronate was included in the list of banned substances the WADA, but there was no serious research on it. Now, when about 300 athletes in the world were caught on Meldonium, it was decided, you know, drop all charges against those who have (allowed) the concentration of research in progress We are somewhat concerned about this issue with the investigation ", -.. Mutko said at a press conference on the eve of the departure of the national team of Russia in the training camp in Switzerland in preparation for the European Championships in France.

"Russian football has never sinned by doping. We've never had a year we take an average of up to 2,000 samples tested CSKA Now the whole team, all the leaders...", - the Minister said.
