Indications of Xylometazoline-Rusfar

Acute allergic rhinitis, hay fever, sinusitis, otitis media (to reduce swelling of the mucous nasopharynx); preparation of the patient for diagnostic procedures in the nasal passages.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, pregnancy and lactation.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Contraindicated during pregnancy. At the time of treatment should stop breastfeeding.

Side effects

Sometimes a burning sensation or dryness of the nasal membranes, sneezing; rarely - reactive hyperemia, swelling of the nasal mucosa; systemic effects: palpitations, irregular heartbeat, increased blood pressure, anxiety, insomnia, headache, nausea.

Interaction

Incompatible with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

Xylometazoline-Rusphar Dosage and Administration

Intranasal. Adults and children over 12 years - 2-3 drops of 1% solution in each nostril 1-2 times a day for children 2 to 6 years - 1-2 drops of 0.5% solution in each nostril 1-2 times a day, children from 6 to 12 years - 1-3 drops of 0.5% solution in each nostril 2-3 times a day. The duration of the drug - no more than 3-5 days.

Overdose

Symptoms: increased side effects.

Treatment: symptomatic therapy.

Precautionary measures

Do not use the drug for more than 2 weeks.

Long intranasal administration may lead to a weakening of the action. Abuse of xylometazoline can cause atrophy of the mucous membrane and reactive hyperemia (a strong feeling of "fullness" of the nose, rhinitis).
