Composition and release form

Indications for Xylocaine

Local or regional anesthesia (infiltration, blockage of peripheral nerve trunks and plexuses, caudal blockade), anesthesia in dentistry.

Hypersensitivity.

Side effects

Numbness of the tongue, a feeling of lightness in the head, dizziness, blurred vision, stopping breathing; with a random intravascular injection: a blockade of conduction, a decrease in cardiac output, hypotension, bradycardia, ventricular fibrillation, cardiac arrest.

Interaction

Toxicity is enhanced by tokainide. Halothane, butirofenon increase the risk of developing cardiac arrhythmia (for medications with adrenaline).

Dosing and Administration

It is injected slowly, with frequent aspiration; the main dose is administered slowly - 25-30 mg / min. Before epidural anesthesia, a test dose with 3-5 ml xylocaine with adrenaline is carried out, aspiration is repeated before the main dose is administered. Infiltration (skin) - 0.5-1% with a volume of 1-60 ml, with a total dose of 1-300 mg. For blockades, 1-2% solutions are used in a volume of 3-40 ml, depending on the procedure being performed.

Precautionary measures

Use with caution in conducting epidural anesthesia in patients with impaired cardiovascular function.
