Selectively blocks the presynaptic 5-HT3 receptors of peripheral neurons and the central nervous system, thereby inhibiting the gag reflex.
Fast (on average for 20 minutes) and almost completely (more than 95%) is absorbed from the digestive tract. After ingestion, Cmax is reached within 3 hours. Absolute bioavailability is dose dependent. Binding to plasma proteins - 71%. Undergoes biotransformation in the liver by hydroxylation followed by conjugation (glucuronides), while the metabolites formed are inactive. It is excreted slowly from the body. The duration of action is about 24 hours.
