Pharmacological action - anti-inflammatory, antibacterial.
Pharmacokinetics
Salosinal, thanks to a special tablet coating, releases mesalazine, the active metabolite of sulfasalazine, mainly in the large intestine (60-79%). In the jejunum, 15-30% of the active substance is released, with only about 10% entering the systemic circulation.
Indications
Nonspecific ulcerative colitis; Crohn's disease (prevention and treatment of exacerbations).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, severe hepatic-renal failure, gastric and duodenal ulcer, hemorrhagic diathesis.
pregnancy and lactation
It is not recommended to use the drug during pregnancy and during lactation.
Side effects
Weakness, headache, bronchospasm, pseudo erythritis, methemoglobinemia, allergic reactions.
Interaction
Increases the toxicity of methotrexate, sulfonamides, furosemide and rifampicin. It increases the hypoglycemic effect of sulfonylurea derivatives and the ulcerogenic effect of glucocorticosteroids.
Dosing and Administration
Inside, after eating, with plenty of water; with exacerbation of colitis - 2-3 tablets 3 times a day. For the prevention of relapse - 1-2 tablets 3 times a day.
Overdose
Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, weakness, drowsiness. Treatment: gastric lavage, laxative, symptomatic therapy.
Precautionary measures
It is recommended to conduct a regular blood and urine test with prolonged therapy.
