pharmacodynamics

Phenylephrine hydrochloride is an α-adrenoceptor agonists, has a local vasoconstrictor effect that reduces exudation, tissue swelling, itching in the anorectal region.

Indications of Relief

As a symptomatic treatment:

hemorrhoids;

anal fissures;

anal itching.

Contraindications

Increased individual sensitivity to the drug;

thromboembolic disease;

granulocytopenia;

Children up to age 12 years.

Precautions: hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, urinary retention (prostatic hypertrophy), pregnancy, lactation.

Side effects

Rarely - allergic reactions.

Interaction

Due to the content of phenylephrine reduced effect of antihypertensive drugs. When concomitant administration with antidepressants - MAO inhibitors - may develop a hypertensive crisis.

Dosage and Administration

rectal Suppositories

Rectal, after the hygiene procedures. 1 supp. in the morning and at night after each bowel movement, up to 4 times a day.

Ointment for rectal and topical

Topically, rectally, after hygiene. Remove the applicator cap, attach the applicator to a tube and squeeze a small amount of ointment to lubricate applicator.

Adults and children over 12 years - up to 4 times a day, morning, evening and after each bowel movement. Ointment gently applied through the applicator to the affected area or inside the anus and the skin in the anal region.

Do not use in children under the age of 12 years, during pregnancy and lactation without the consent of a doctor.
