Description of Proroxan

White or yellowish white crystalline powder. It is soluble in water and alcohol.

Pharmacological Properties of Proroxan

Pharmachologic effect - Mode of action - antiabstinentnoe, hypotensive, antipruritic, sedative.

Blocks postsynaptic alpha 1 and presynaptic alpha2-adrenergic receptors. It has peripheral and central influence. Adrenergic vasoconstrictor, decreases transmission pulse, eliminates spasms and expands peripheral vessels, especially the arterioles and precapillaries. It suppresses the excitability of brain diencephalic structures and adjusts tone simpatoadrenalovoj system.

Indications for Proroxan

Hypertensive crisis, diencephalic crisis sympathoadrenal type, Meniere's syndrome, sea and air sickness, cravings (morphine and alcohol), anxiety-depressive syndrome, allergic dermatoses.

Contraindications for Proroxan

Severe forms of atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular accidents, circulatory insufficiency II-III stage breast age (up to 6 months).

Side effect of Proroxan

Bradycardia, hypotension, increased anginal pain.

Overdose of Proroxan

Symptoms: bradycardia, orthostatic collapse, a sharp decrease in blood pressure.

Treatment: maintaining vital functions (phenylephrine, ephedrine, koronarolitiki et al.).

Interaction

Action intensifies neuroleptics (phenothiazines, butyrophenone, difenilbutilpiperidina, thioxanthenes). Against the background of procainamide may decrease stroke volume.

Inside, intramusculary, subdermal.

Precautions for substance Proroxan

Caution should be used in elderly patients. It is recommended to monitor blood glucose levels (possible increase in the level of endogenous insulin).
