Composition and release form
1 ml of solution for injection contains promazine 25 mg; in the package 5 ampoules of 2 ml.
Pharmachologic effect
Pharmacological action - antihypertensive, antihistamine, neuroleptic, antiemetic, sedative.
Indications Propozine solution 2.5% in ampules
Psychoses, schizophrenia, vomiting with chemo- and radiation therapy, malignant hyperthermia, porphyria.
Contraindications
Alcoholism, shock and coma, organic lesions of the central nervous system, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, respiratory disorders, breast cancer, liver and kidney disease, prostate adenoma, blood diseases, glaucoma.
Application in pregnancy and lactation
Contraindicated.
Side effects
Hypotension (up to the collapse), extrapyramidal disorders, dyspeptic disorders, hepatitis, allergic reactions.
Interaction
Strengthens the effect of alcohol, tranquilizers, analgesics, sleeping pills and narcotic drugs; reduces the effectiveness of bromocriptine and antiparkinsonian drugs.
Dosing and Administration
Adults IM - 10-100 mg every 6-12 hours. The highest daily dose is 2 g. Children older than 12 years - 10-25 mg every 6-12 hours. The highest daily dose is 1 g.
Precautionary measures
Use with caution in children under 12 years.
