Characteristics of the substance Pentoxyl
The pyrimidine derivative. White crystalline powder with a faint smell of formaldehyde. Very little soluble in water, soluble in solutions of caustic alkalis, practically insoluble in ethanol.
Pharmacology
Mode action - Immunostimulating, leukopoietic.
Stimulates the synthesis of nucleic acids, leukopoiesis, antibody formation, phagocytosis. Accelerates the processes of cellular regeneration, promotes the healing of wounds, has an anti-inflammatory effect.
There are data on the effectiveness of use in patients with trophic ulcers, burns, bone fractures, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum. Effective in the treatment of chronic pancreatitis, incl. In children, due to stimulation of reparative processes in the pancreas (Rimarchuk GV, 1999). Along with other immunomodulators used in the treatment of herpesvirus infection, but not earlier than the 21st day with acute and 14th day with a recurrent process (Khakhalin LN, 2000). It is possible to use in order to increase the general resistance of the organism when carrying out complex antigen-specific immunoprophylaxis (immunocorrection).
Application of the substance Pentoxyl
Leukopenia, agranulocyte angina, alimentary-toxic aleukia, intoxication with benzene, infectious and inflammatory diseases of the respiratory system (often recurrent), immunodeficiency states, periodontitis (as part of combination therapy).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, hemoblastosis, leukemia, lymphogranulomatosis, malignant neoplasms of the bone marrow.
Side effects of the substance Pentoxyl
Headache, dizziness, dyspeptic phenomena, allergic reactions.
