Composition and form of release

pharmachologic effect

Pharmacological action is a stimulating generic activity.

Increases the permeability of membranes for potassium ions, reduces the resting potential and increases the excitability of myometrium cells. Causes severe contractions of the uterus musculature (especially pregnant), increases the secretion of milk, has a weak antidiuretic effect.

Indications

Stimulation of labor, prevention and treatment of hypotonic uterine bleeding in the postpartum period, hypogalactia in the postpartum period, stimulation of uterine contractions in the postpartum period and in cesarean section (after fetal extraction).

Contraindications

Threatening rupture of the uterus, transverse and oblique position of the fetus, discrepancy of the size of the fetal head with the size of the pelvis of the uterus, suspicion of premature placental abruption, intrauterine fetal hypoxia, presence of scars on the uterus.

Side effects

Hypertension of the uterus, intrauterine fetal hypoxia, premature placental abruption, uterine rupture, urinary retention.

Interaction

Enhances the effect of sympathomimetics (appoint with caution).

Dosing and Administration

Intramuscular or intravenous.Induction of labor: in / m, 0,5-2 units, if necessary, repeat injections every 30-60 minutes.

For intravenous drip injection, 1 ml of the drug is diluted in 500 ml of 5% glucose solution. Enter, starting at 5-8 drops / min, if necessary, the rate of administration is increased, but not more than 40 drops / min.

Prevention of hypotonic uterine bleeding: in / m, 3-5 ED 2-3 times a day for 2-3 days.

Treatment of hypotonic uterine bleeding: in / m, 5-8 units 2-3 times a day for 3 days.

In the operation of caesarean section (after removal of the afterbirth): into the wall of the uterus, 3-5 units.

Precautionary measures

It should be used only under the control of the contractile activity of the uterus, the condition of the fetus, blood pressure and the general condition of the woman. With caution combine with sympathomimetics.
