Characteristics of Metocinum iodide

The white crystalline powder. It is soluble in water. Aqueous solutions of thermally stable.

Pharmacology

Mode of action - antispasmodic.

Competitive blocking m-cholinergic receptors predominantly peripheral cholinergic structures. It reduces secretion of bronchial and salivary glands. It relaxes muscles (relieves spasms) of the esophagus, stomach, intestines. It reduces the amplitude and frequency of uterine contractions.

Indication

Hepatic and renal colic, gastric and duodenal ulcer disease, chronic gastritis; in anesthesia to reduce the secretion of the glands, prevention of bronchospasm and circulatory disorders during stimulation n.vagus; in obstetrics for the prevention of abortion, premature birth.

Contraindications

Glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, atrial fibrillation, tachycardia, acute human liver and kidneys, reduced motility of the gastrointestinal tract, urinary disorders.

Side effects of Metocinum iodide

Increased intraocular pressure, disturbance of accommodation, mydriasis, tachycardia, dry mouth, thirst, dysphagia, constipation, difficulty urinating.

Interaction

(Mutually) effects others. Anticholinergics.

Overdose

Symptoms: increased anticholinergic effects, atrial fibrillation.

Treatment: anticholinesterase agents.

Inside, parenterally.

Precautions

When side effects should increase the interval between doses or reducing the dose.
