pharmachologic effect

The pharmacological action is antiestrogenic.

It blocks estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus and ovaries, enhances pituitary glandular secretion of gonadotropic hormones (LH (luteinizing hormone), FSH (follicle stimulating hormone)), which stimulates maturation and endocrine activity of the follicle; As a consequence - stimulates ovulation and increases the concentration of estradiol in the blood.

Indications

Stimulation of ovulation in women with infertility due to secondary ovarian hypofunction, mainly due to hypothalamic-pituitary disorders.

Contraindications

Pronounced hepatic-renal failure, uterine bleeding of unclear etiology, ovarian cyst, swelling or insufficiency of the pituitary gland function, bleeding, pregnancy.

Side effects

Headache, dizziness, nausea, hot flashes, visual disturbances, cystic enlargement of the ovaries.

Dosing and Administration

Inside, the recommended dose for the first cycle is 50 mg 1 time per day for 5 days, starting from the 5th day of the menstrual cycle. In the case of ovulation, there is no need to increase the dose on subsequent treatment cycles.

In the absence of effect, the second cycle of treatment is prescribed (no earlier than 30 days after the first) at a dose of 100 mg for 5 days; An increase in the dose or duration of treatment should not be performed.

An effective full course for the majority of patients is 3 cycles. In the absence of effect, further continuation of treatment is not advisable.
