Composition and release form
1 the chewable tablet contains a polymetose complex of iron in an amount equivalent to 100 mg of elemental iron and folic acid 350 μg; In a contour non-jaw-dropping package 10 pcs., In a box 3 packages.
Characteristic
Stable complex of ferric iron and maltose (3-hydroxy-2-methyl-4-pyrone).
Pharmachologic effect
Mode of action - Replenishing deficiency of iron and folic acid, anti-anemia.
Stimulates erythropoiesis. Iron is involved in the synthesis of hemoglobin, myoglobin, cytochrome oxidase, catalase and peroxidase, folic acid in the synthesis of amino acids, nucleic acids, purines and pyrimidines, in the exchange of choline, promotes the normal maturation of megaloblasts and the formation of normoblasts.
Pharmacokinetics
After absorption in the gastrointestinal tract, iron binds to plasma transferrin and either is included in synthetic reactions, or is deposited in tissues in the form of ferritin. Excretion of iron occurs with feces, urine and sweat. Folic acid is absorbed mainly in the upper intestine (in the duodenum) and 64% is associated with proteins. It is metabolized in the liver secreted mainly by the kidneys, and also partially by the intestine. T1 / 2 - 22.4 h.
Indication of the drug Biofer
Iron deficiency (prevention and treatment).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, hemochromatosis, hemosiderosis, aplastic, hemolytic, sidero-sacral, lead, pernicious anemia, impaired iron absorption.
Side effects
Dyspeptic disorders (nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, epigastric pain), allergic reactions.
Interaction
Antacids and tetracycline antibiotics reduce absorption.
Dosing and Administration
Inside, chewing and washing with water.
Prevention - 1 tab. (100 mg of elemental iron) once a day.
Treatment - 1 tab. 2 times a day (under the supervision of a doctor). The course of treatment - 1,5-2 months.
Overdose
Symptoms: increased side effects.
Treatment: for suspected overdose, determination of serum iron and serum ferritin. With a significant excess of normal indices, the appointment of an iron chelator, deferoxamine, is necessary.
Precautionary measures
At the beginning of treatment it is necessary to examine the serum iron and serum ferritin levels. Treatment is performed until the blood picture is normalized (levels of hemoglobin and serum ferritin).
Special instructions
It is possible to stain the feces in a dark color.
Storage conditions of the drug Biofer
In dry, the dark place at a temperature of no higher than 25 ° C.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Shelf life of the drug Biofer
