Dexa-Gentamicin (Dexa-Gentamycin) eye drops - is a combined preparation used in ophthalmology, the components of which have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects. It is used mainly for eye infections caused by gentamicin-sensitive bacteria, also for allergic reactions and in the postoperative period.
Combination drug for topical application in ophthalmology.
The drug provides a sufficient dose and compatibility of both active components, as well as reduces the likelihood of error in the selection of a dose in the case of a separate designation of the components included in the preparation.
Gentamicin is a water-soluble antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group. It has bactericidal action against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Gentamicin does not penetrate through the intact cornea. Damage and inflammation of the cornea lead to the penetration of gentamicin through the cornea into the anterior chamber of the eye 15 minutes after instillation of eye drops or ophthalmic ointment.
Dexamethasone is a synthetic SCS, whose anti-inflammatory and antiallergic effect is 25 times greater than the action of cortisol, which is a natural endogenous SCS. Possible penetration of dexamethasone through the cornea with intact epithelium into the moisture of the anterior chamber of the eye; However, in the case of an inflammatory process or epithelial damage, the rate of penetration of dexamethasone through the cornea significantly increases.
Pharmacokinetics
With topical application, systemic absorption is low.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and manage mechanisms
Immediately after the use of the drug Dexa-Gentamycin, a short-term disturbance of visual acuity may occur, leading to a slowing down of psychomotor reactions. Therefore, it is not recommended to apply the drug directly before working with mechanisms and driving vehicles.
