Androcur Depot - antiandrogenic, gestagenic.

Antiandrogenic drug of prolonged action. Competitively binds to the tissue receptors of androgens. Reduces or completely eliminates the effect of androgens on target organs (including the prostate gland). Has gestagenic activity and antigonadotropic properties.

When treating Androkur Depot, there is a decrease in sexual desire and potency, as well as a decrease in gonadal function. These phenomena are reversible and pass after drug withdrawal.

Indications:

Increased sexual desire for sexual deviations; antiandrogen therapy with inoperable carcinoma of the prostate.

Contraindications:

• hypersensitivity to cyproterone or other components of the drug;
• liver diseases (including Dubin-Johnson syndrome, Rotor syndrome);
• liver tumors in the anamnesis or at present (with the exception of metastases of prostate cancer in the liver);
• cachexia (with the exception of cachexia in prostate cancer);
• severe chronic depression;
• thrombosis and thromboembolism at the present time;
• the presence of a meningioma at present or in an anamnesis;
• children and adolescents under 18 years.

With caution: in the presence of patients with inoperable prostate cancer, thrombosis and thromboembolism in history, severe diabetes mellitus with angiopathy, sickle-cell anemia Androcur is prescribed only after evaluating the individual benefit-risk ratio in each case.

Suggested Use:

Androcur Depot is administered only deep in / m.

To reduce sexual desire in men every 10-14 days, the drug is administered in a dose of 300 mg (1 ampoule). In exceptional cases, when this dose is not enough, 600 mg (2 ampoules) can be administered every 10-14 days (preferably 3 ml in the right and left buttocks). When achieving a satisfactory result of treatment, try to reduce the dose, gradually increasing the intervals between injections.

In order to stabilize the therapeutic effect, Androcur Depot's injections should be continued for a long time and, if possible, with simultaneous psychotherapeutic treatment.

With inoperable prostate cancer, to exclude the action of androgens of the adrenal cortex, a drug of 300 mg is administered. If the condition improves or remission is achieved, treatment should not be interrupted or the dose reduced.

In rare cases, a short-term reaction (coughing, coughing, lack of air) may occur during or immediately after injection. Very slow administration of the drug avoids such reactions.
