PK-Merz (Amantadine, Amantadinum, Amantadini) - antiparkinsonian agent.
Amantadine has indirect agonist activity at striatal dopamine receptors.
Increases extracellular dopamine concentration by both the intensification of its production, and the blockade of dopamine reuptake by presynaptic neurons.
At therapeutic concentrations, amantadine slows down the production of acetylcholine and thus, has an anticholinergic effect.

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Glaucoma, prostate adenoma. Psychomotor agitation. Standing preddeliriya and delirium, psychosis in history. Epilepsy, thyrotoxicosis, acute and chronic diseases of the liver and kidneys. Pregnancy (1 trimester) and breastfeeding.
Special instructions:
PK-Merz Treatment should not be stopped suddenly as this may lead to worsening of symptoms.
Patients with cardiovascular disease should be under constant medical supervision when administering the drug PK-Merz.
The treatment is contraindicated alcohol intake.
Effects on ability to drive and operate machinery. Be wary of during the drivers of vehicles and people skills relate to the high concentration of attention.
Side effects:
Mental disorders are accompanied by visual hallucinations. Rarely - motor and mental excitement. Retention of urine in patients with BPH. Heart failure. Arrhythmia, tachycardia, nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, sleep disorder. Very rare - occurrence of bluish color of the skin of the upper and lower extremities, decreased visual acuity.
Drug interactions:
Simultaneous administration of diuretics, which are a combination of triamterene / gidrohlortizida may alter plasma concentrations of amantadine. In combination therapy with other anti-Parkinson accordingly it may be necessary to change the dose of other drugs or combinations of overall, otherwise adverse effects may increase.
Suggested Use:
Inside, after eating a small amount of liquid, preferably in the morning.
The first 3 days - 1 tablet per day, then increase the dose to 2 tablets a day, with possible further increase in the dose of 1 tablet per week.
The usual effective dose is from 1 to 3 tablets twice a day.
The maximum daily dose - 600 mg.
In case combination treatment is necessary to determine the dose individually.
The last dose is recommended to take in the second half of the day no later than 16:00.
Use in elderly patients, particularly in patients suffering from the condition of excitation and confusion, delirium and preddeliriya. It requires a lower dosage.
