Pharmacological action - antipsoriatic, photosensitizing.

In the cells of the epithelium it forms covalent bonds with DNA and increases its sensitivity to the damaging effect of the long-wave UV spectrum A (320-400 nm). The maximum photosensitivity of the skin is observed after 1.5-2.1 hours. As a result of massive damage to epithelial cells, an inflammatory reaction occurs, manifested in delayed erythema, reaching a peak after 48-72 hours. After a period of time (from several days to several weeks) after inflammation followed by healing, which manifests itself in the form of enhanced production of melanin and the formation of a normal stratum corneum.

Indication

Invalidative psoriasis (in combination with UV irradiation).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to therapy with UV radiation, aphakia (due to an increased risk of retinal damage), severe violations of the liver and kidneys, hematoporphyria, malignant melanoma, scaly skin carcinoma.

Side effects

Dosing and Administration

Inside, with milk or low-fat food, 1.5-2 hours before UVA-irradiation (ultraviolet A high intensity). The dose depends on the body weight of the patient (an average of 20-40 mg per 1 reception) and is taken every other day (not more often). Course - 1-3 months.

Precautionary measures
