Structure and Composition

1 ml of a solution containing timolol eye drops (in the form of maleate) 2,5 or 5 mg; in plastic vials of 5 ml.

Mode of action - antiglaucoma.

Beta-adrenoceptor blocking and lowers intraocular pressure.

Clinical pharmacology

The effect occurs within 20 minutes following instillation, reaches a maximum after 1-2 hours and lasts up to 24 hours. In long-term therapy the patient sensitivity decreases.

Indications Niolol drug

Elevated intraocular pressure, chronic open-angle glaucoma, aphakia in glaucoma.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, bronchial asthma, bronchospasm, or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in history, severe heart failure, cardiogenic shock, AV block II-III degree, Raynaud's phenomenon, bradycardia (heart rate less than 45-50 beats per minute), a young child.

Side effects

Headache, asthenia, fatigue, chest pain; bradycardia, arrhythmia, cardiac conduction, cardiac arrest, congestive heart failure, hypotension, collapse, cerebrovascular accident, cerebral ischemia, dyspnea, bronchospasm, respiratory failure; localized and generalized rash, and urticaria. Interaction

Dosing and Administration
