Composition and release form

1 tablet contains selegiline 5 mg; In a blister 10 pcs., In a box 3 blisters or in a pack of 100 pcs.

Pharmachologic effect

Mode of action - sympathomimetic.

It blocks MAO type B, increasing the concentration of mediator monoamines in the brain tissues, incl. Dopamine.

Clinical Pharmacology

It is effective as an additional treatment in patients with Parkinsonism who receive levodopa for a long time in combination (or without) with inhibitors of decarboxylase (with a decrease in the effectiveness of treatment).

Indications for the Niar

Parkinson's disease.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, arterial hypertension, pheochromocytoma, diffuse thyrotoxic goiter, zakratougolnaya glaucoma, prostate adenoma (with a delay of urine), tachycardia, arrhythmia, severe angina, psychosis, dementia.

Application in pregnancy and breastfeeding

Not recommended.

Side effects

In combination with levodopa - dizziness, headache, fatigue, a sense of fear, motor anxiety, agitation, insomnia, dyskinesia, hypotension, swelling, dry mouth, loss of appetite, nausea, constipation; Rarely - confusion, psychosis, painful urge to urinate, shortness of breath, increased levels of liver enzymes, skin rash.

Interaction

Incompatible with fluoxetine, sympathomimetics, deprimiruyuschimi drugs, alcohol. Amantadine and anticholinergic drugs increase the incidence of adverse reactions.

Dosing and Administration

Inside, not liquid, squeezed water, 1-2 tablespoons. In the morning (after breakfast) or 1 table. After breakfast and 1 table. After lunch (the daily dose should not exceed 10 mg), in combination with an individually selected dose of levodopa.

Overdose

Symptoms - attacks of headache, hypertensive crisis (at a dose of more than 60 mg per day in combination with the consumption of tyramine-containing foods). Treatment is symptomatic (there is no specific antidote).

Precautionary measures

Do not appoint patients with a stomach ulcer or duodenal ulcer, as well as receiving antidepressants. It should be borne in mind that the ability to manage vehicles and mechanisms is deteriorating. You cannot prescribe fluoxetine earlier than 14 days after the abolition of Niar.
