Composition and form of release

1 ampoule with 1 ml solution for injection contains piroxicam 20 mg; in a cardboard box there are 5 ampoules.

1 g of ointment - 10 mg; in tubes of 50 grams, in a carton of 1 tube.

pharmachologic effect

Pharmacological action - anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic.

It blocks cyclooxygenase and inhibits the synthesis of PG (prostaglandins).

Indications

Inflammatory or degenerative diseases of the joints and spine, accompanied by pain, Bekhterev's disease, exacerbation of gout.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer in the stage of exacerbation, blood disorder of unclear genesis (including in the anamnesis), severe renal and / or liver dysfunction, history of bronchial asthma, childhood and adolescence (up to 14 years - ointment, up to 18 years - solution), pregnancy, breast-feeding.

pregnancy and lactation

Contraindicated in pregnancy. For the duration of treatment, breastfeeding should be discontinued.

Side effects

From the nervous system and sensory organs: dizziness, headache, drowsiness, insomnia, weakness, depression, hallucinations, blurred vision, eye irritation.

From the cardiovascular system and blood (hematopoiesis, hemostasis): anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, eosinophilia.

On the part of the digestive tract: dry mouth, stomatitis, irritation of the gastrointestinal tract, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, flatulence, bleeding gums, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract and bleeding, violation of liver function.

From the genitourinary system: renal failure, acute interstitial nephritis.

From the side of metabolism: hyperkalemia, hypokalemia.

Allergic reactions: itching, redness of the skin, allergic swelling (face, hands), Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Lyell's syndrome, very rarely - anaphylactic reactions, bronchospasm, photosensitivity, rash.

Other: edema (mainly lower extremities in patients with impaired heart function).

Interaction

It displaces other drugs from the link with the protein. Lowers the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs. Increases the risk of hyperkalemia when combined with potassium-sparing diuretics and potassium donors and the likelihood of ulceration of the gastrointestinal tract against the background of corticosteroids and NSAIDs.

Dosing and Administration

In / m (intramuscular), with severe pain syndrome - 40 mg once a day, with moderate pain syndrome - 20 mg once a day for 1-2 days, then treatment should be carried out, if possible, with oral dosage forms. The maximum daily dose is 40 mg.

Outwardly. A strip of ointment 1-3 cm long is applied to the skin in the projection of the pain area and carefully rubbed 3-4 times a day.

Precautionary measures

Avoid contact with ointment on mucous membranes, eyes, open wounds or skin lesions.
