The solution is yellow-green with a characteristic odor.

Pharmachologic effect

Mode of action - Anti-anemic.

It replenishes iron deficiency in the body and stimulates the synthesis of hemoglobin in iron deficiency anemia. Iron is an important constituent of hemoglobin, myoglobin and various enzymes.

Pharmacokinetics

It is absorbed in the initial parts of the small intestine, mainly in the duodenum. The absorbed iron is retained in the ferritin-related form, mainly in the liver. There is a correlation between the degree of deficiency and the amount of absorbed iron (the higher the iron deficiency, the better the absorption). With clinically severe anemia, iron absorption reaches 25%.

Indication of the drug Hemofer

Iron deficiency anemia, latent iron deficiency. Prevention of iron deficiency during pregnancy and lactation, intensive growth in children and adolescents, in adults (vegetarians and elderly people).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, diseases accompanied by the accumulation of iron in the body (aplastic and hemolytic anemia, thalassemia, hemosiderosis, hemochromatosis), a violation of the assimilation of iron (sidero-sacral, lead or pernicious anemia).

Side effects

Feeling of overflow or heaviness in the epigastric region, nausea, constipation, or diarrhea, allergic reactions.

Interaction

It interferes with the absorption of antibiotics of the tetracycline group. Antacid preparations reduce the absorption of iron.

Dosing and Administration

Inside, between meals with water or juice. 1 ml of Hemofer contains 44 mg of ferrous iron. In 1 drop - about 1.6 mg of ferrous iron. Preterm infants1,53 mg / kg body weight (1-2 drops) daily for 3-5 months, up to 1 year - 15-30 mg (9-19 drops) per day, daily; 1-12 years - 45 mg (28 drops) 1-2 times a day, daily; Over 12 years - 45 mg (28 drops) 2 times a day. Therapeutic dose is not more than 3 mg / kg / day. Adults in 2 ml (55 drops) 2 times a day. Prophylactic doses are 1 / 2-1 / 3 of the therapeutic dose. The duration of treatment is at least 2 months (in severe cases 2-3 months). Therapeutic dose is not more than 180-200 mg / day. After achieving a therapeutic effect, taking the drug in prophylactic doses should be continued for several months.

Overdose

Symptoms: pain in the epigastric region, nausea, vomiting, upset of the chair, drowsiness, pallor, shock, coma.

Treatment: gastric lavage, deferoxamine administration, if necessary - symptomatic therapy.

Precautionary measures

If there are side effects from the GI tract, the drug can be taken during or immediately after a meal. It is not recommended to take the drug in violation of digestion and absorption in the digestive tract.

Special instructions

When treating patients with diabetes, it should be taken into account that the composition of the drug includes glucose. The dark color of the stool during treatment is due to the excretion of iron.
