Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, anemia, not associated with iron deficiency, hemoglobinuria (nocturnal), hemosiderosis, peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer (exacerbation), enteritis, ulcerative colitis, repeated blood transfusion.

Application of pregnancy and breastfeeding

Not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Side effects

Gastrointestinal disorders (discomfort and pain in the epigastric region, lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, black stool).

Interaction

Absorption reduces tetracycline and antacids (intervals between admission should be at least 2-3 hours). The effect slows down chloramphenicol.

Dosing and Administration

Inside (can be chopped or chewed). Adults, incl. Elderly, - 1 table. 3 times a day; If necessary, double the dose. For the prevention of anemia during pregnancy is prescribed in combination with folic acid.

Precautionary measures

It is necessary to avoid appointments for more than 6 months. It is not recommended to take patients with peptic ulcer. It should be borne in mind that in large doses the drug can prevent the detection of hidden blood in the stool (due to staining the stool to black color) and that the guaiac test (for blood) can give a false positive result.
