Composition and release form

Leocaine solution (beta-dimethylaminoethyl ester of parabutylaminobenzoic acid hydrochloride (beta form) 0.3% contains leocaine, sodium chloride, purified water, in vials of 5 ml or 10 ml.

Characteristic

Transparent or slightly opalescent, colorless or slightly colored liquid.

Pharmachologic effect

Pharmacological action - local anesthetic.

Clinical Pharmacology

The local anesthetic effect on the cornea of the eye is manifested after 20-30 seconds after instillation and lasts for 13-15 minutes. The drug has no toxic effect on the epithelium of the cornea and does not aggravate the course of pathological processes.

Indication of the drug Dicaine (beta form) solution of 0.3% with methylcellulose (eye drops)

Anesthesia in adults with short-term surgery in the anterior segment of the eyeball.

Contraindications

Individual intolerance to the drug.

Side effects

Short-term burning after instillation, mild allergic reactions.

Dosing and Administration

In the form of instillations of 1-2 drops immediately before surgery. If necessary, 1-2 drops are instillated during the operation, depending on the patient's condition and the duration of the operation.
