Pharmacotherapy
Combined drug, the effect of which is due to the components that make up its composition; Has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, desensitizing effect. Dexamethasone is a synthetic SCS (glucocorticosteroids), has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects. Neomycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic.
Indications
Superficial and deep bacterial keratitis; Nasal bacterial conjunctivitis, allergic conjunctivitis complicated by a secondary infection; Post-traumatic and postoperative iritis, iridocyclitis, episcleritis, dacryocystitis; Meibomite (barley); Damage caused by a burn (including chemical); Blepharitis; Otitis media.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, tuberculosis diseases of the eyes, acute herpes zoster, viral and fungal infections of the eyes and ears, chicken pox; Purulent infection of the mucous membrane of the eye and eyelids, purulent corneal ulcer (caused by microorganisms resistant to the action of neomycin); Glaucoma, cataract; Condition after removal of the foreign body of the cornea; Perforation of the tympanic membrane.
Dosing
1-2 drops (0.1% solution of dexamethasone and 0.5% solution of neomycin) in the conjunctival sac or auditory meatus at intervals of 1-2 hours - during the day and at intervals of 2 hours - overnight; When mitigating acute symptoms - 4-6 times a day. Duration of treatment - from 1 day to several weeks.
Side effect
With prolonged use - increased intraocular pressure, cataracts, thinning of the cornea.
Interaction
Incompatible with monomycin, streptomycin (increased ototoxic effect).
Special instructions
To prevent the spread of infection, it is necessary to avoid the use of the same vial for the treatment of ocular infections and otitis. With prolonged treatment of pregnant women, there is a risk of ototoxic effect on the fetus.
