Characteristics

Glucocorticoid for topical application.

Small plates or powder white or almost white, odorless. Soluble in methanol, almost insoluble in water.

Pharmacology

Pharmacological action - vasoconstrictive, antiallergic, anti-inflammatory local.

It induces the formation of lipocortins that inhibit the activity of phospholipase A2, inhibits the synthesis of PG (prostaglandins) and LT (leukotrienes). Reduces vascular permeability, chemotaxis, promotes stabilization of lysosomes.

Indications

Inflammatory diseases of the anterior segment of the eye and its appendages: allergic conjunctivitis, scaly blepharitis, episcleritis, recurrent iritis, iridocyclitis (posterior segment of eye); Postoperative and post-traumatic inflammation of the eyes; Thermal and chemical damage to the cornea.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, increased intraocular pressure, conjunctivitis with ulcerative keratitis (including in the initial stage with a positive test with fluorescein), viral diseases of the cornea (including caused by Herpes simplex, in the stage of ulceration), eye tuberculosis, eye mycosis, Purulent ophthalmia, purulent conjunctivitis, purulent and herpetic blepharitis, barley.

Restrictions for use

Pregnancy, breast-feeding, children's age (safety and effectiveness of use in children are not defined).

Side effects

Local reactions: tingling or burning in the eye; With prolonged use - increased intraocular pressure, decreased fields and visual acuity, optic nerve damage, cataract, corneal perforation, fungal infection.

Precautions

If necessary, continue treatment more than 2 weeks, a systematic control of intraocular pressure is necessary.

It is not recommended for corneal abrasions and abrasions (slows healing, promotes spread of infection).

Use with caution in diseases accompanied by thinning of the cornea (corneal perforation is possible).

In case of viral diseases caused by Herpes simplex, use only as part of combination therapy simultaneously with antiherpetic drugs and only under the constant supervision of an ophthalmologist.
