Imovane (Zopiclone, Zopiclonum) - is the first representative of a new class of psychotropic drugs, tsiklopirrolonov structurally different from benzodiazepines and barbiturates.
Sedative-hypnotic effect Imovane (Zopiclone) due to high affinity binding sites on the GABA receptor complex in the central nervous system.
Imovane (Zopiclone) rapidly induces sleep without reducing the proportion of REM sleep in the structure, and then supports sleep with preservation of the normal properties.
Imovane (Zopiclone) characterized by a short half-life time of the body, is usually 3.5-6 hours. Repeated reception Imovane (Zopiclone) not accompanied by accumulation of the drug or its metabolites. The absence of weakness or drowsiness in the morning distinguishes Imovane (Zopiclone) by drugs of the benzodiazepine and barbiturate series.
Indications for use:
Imovane (Zopiclone) indicated for the treatment of insomnia, including difficulty falling asleep, nighttime awakenings, and waking up early, transient, situational or chronic insomnia and secondary sleep disorders in mental disorders in situations where it is substantially worsen the condition of patients.
Prolonged use Imovane (Zopiclone), like other hypnotics is not recommended, treatment should not exceed 4 weeks.
Imovane (Zopiclone) recommended dose - 7.5 mg at bedtime.
In severe or persistent insomnia dose may be increased to 15 mg.
Treatment of elderly patients should be started at a lower dose - 3.75 mg. Depending on efficacy and tolerance dose can be further increased.
In patients with severe liver function impairment Imovane (Zopiclone) recommended dose is 3.75 mg.
If renal impairment dose reduction Imovane (Zopiclone) not required.
The duration of a course of the drug should not exceed 4 weeks.
Abrupt discontinuation of application Imovane (Zopiclone)does not cause withdrawal symptoms.
Effects on ability to drive vehicles and management mechanisms.
Patients taking Imovane (Zopiclone) regularly should refrain from activities potentially hazardous activities that require increased attention and psychomotor speed reactions.
