Oftan Catachrom eye drops - is used to treat cataracts. It refers to the group of stimulators of tissue repair, stimulates the metabolic processes of the lens, protects its tissues from damage by free radicals (antioxidant action). Moistens the surface of the eye, exhibits anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect.
Combined drug that improves the energy metabolism of the lens. Active ingredients: Adenosinum, Nicotinamidum, Cytochromum C.
Cytochrome C plays an important role in biochemical oxidation-reduction processes in the tissues of the eyeball and is an antioxidant.
Adenosine, the precursor of ATP, takes part in the metabolic processes of the lens.
Nicotinamide stimulates the synthesis of nicotinamide-dinucleotide, cofactor dehydrogenases.
Pharmacokinetics
Suction and distribution
When topical application of cytochrome C is not absorbed into the systemic circulation.
Adenosine penetrates well through the cornea.
Metabolism and excretion
Cytochrome C is completely metabolized in the body in the same ways as amino acids, and gem is broken down to bilirubin, which is excreted in bile.
Adenosine is metabolized practically in all tissues with the formation of inosine, xanthine and urate, which are excreted in the urine. Ribose, which is part of the adenosine molecule, is metabolized to glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate, and then to pyruvate, and finally cleaved in the Krebs cycle. T1 / 2 adenosine from the plasma is less than 1 min.
Nicotinamide is partially metabolized to nicotinic acid. Both compounds are methylated to form N-methyl nicotinamide, which is further cleaved in the liver. Unchanged nicotinamide and metabolites are excreted in the urine.
Indications:
Contraindications:
Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Special instructions:
Eye drops as a preservative contain benzalkonium chloride, which can be deposited on soft contact lenses. Therefore, patients wearing contact lenses should be removed before using drops and installed back no earlier than 15 minutes after instillation.
Use in Pediatrics
The drug is not used in children.
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and manage mechanisms
The drug Oftan Catachrom does not affect the ability to drive and drive machinery
Side effects:
From the side of the organ of vision: a brief sensation of burning and tingling of the eyes, allergic conjunctivitis, contact dermatitis.
Systemic reactions: extremely rare - short-term nausea, arterial hypotension, dizziness, dyspnea; sensation of heat and pulsation in the temples, fainting (due to the vasodilating action of nicotinic acid).
Overdose:
Due to insignificant absorption into the blood and rapid cleavage of active substances, no serious reactions associated with excess of the dose were detected with the use of drops. In the case of such reactions, symptomatic therapy is indicated.
Suggested Use:
Conjunctival. 1-2 drops in the conjunctival sac, 3 times a day.
