Ceraxon (Citicolinum, Citicoline) - neuroprotective drugs.
Citicoline, as a precursor of key ultrastructural components of the cell membrane (mainly phospholipids), has a broad spectrum of action: helps to restore damaged cell membranes, inhibits the action of phospholipases, preventing excessive production of free radicals and prevent cell death by acting on the mechanisms of apoptosis.
In the acute phase of stroke citicoline reduces the amount of brain damage tissue, improves cholinergic transmission.
With traumatic brain injury reduces the duration of post-traumatic coma and severity of neurological symptoms, except that citicoline reduces the duration of the recovery period.
Chronic hypoxia golvnogo brain citicoline is effective in the treatment of cognitive disorders such as memory loss, lack of initiative, the difficulties encountered in carrying out daily activities and self-care. It increases the level of attention and consciousness, as well as reduces the manifestation of amnesia.
Ceraxon effective in treating sensory and motor neurological degenerative disorders and vascular etiology.
Testimony:
Contraindications:
Pregnancy and breast-feeding:
Sufficient data on the use of citicoline in pregnant women are missing. Although the animals negative effect not found in pregnancy drug Ceraxon studies prescribed only in cases where the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
In appointing Ceraxon lactating women should stop breast-feeding because of the allocation of data citicoline with breast milk are not available.
Special instructions:
During treatment, care must be taken when performing potentially hazardous activities that require attention and fast reactions (driving and other vehicles, work with moving machinery, the work manager and operator, etc.).
Oral solution (optional). In cold conditions may form a small amount of crystals due to temporary partial crystallization preservative. With further recommended storage conditions crystals dissolve within months. The presence of crystals does not affect the quality of the preparation.
Suggested Use:
Preparation is administered intravenously as a slow injection (3-5 minutes, depending on the administered dose) or a drip infusion (40-60 drops per minute). Intravenous route is preferred over intramuscular. When administered intramuscularly to avoid re-introduction of the drug in the same place.
Acute period of ischemic stroke and traumatic brain injury: the recommended dose is 1000 mg every 12 hours in the first days after diagnosis; the duration of treatment - at least 6 weeks. After 3-5 days after the start of treatment (if not broken swallowing function) possible transition to oral forms of the drug Ceraxon.
The recovery period of ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, the recovery period in traumatic brain injury, cognitive and behavioral disorders in degenerative and vascular diseases of the brain: the recommended dose is 500-2000 mg / day. (5.10 ml 1-2 times / day.). The dose and duration of treatment depend on the severity of symptoms.
