Composition and form of release

pharmachologic effect
Pharmacological action - glucocorticoid.
Replenishes the deficiency of hormones of the adrenal cortex. Participates in the metabolism, incl. Mineral and carbohydrate; Causes sodium ion retention and promotes the excretion of potassium.
Indications
Substitution therapy with severe adrenocortical insufficiency, in particular, with Addison's disease, adrenogenital syndrome with loss of salts.
Contraindications
Mental diseases in history, herpetic viral infections, amebiasis, systemic mycoses, peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer, poliomyelitis, osteoporosis, the period before and after immunization.
pregnancy and breastfeeding
During pregnancy (especially in the first trimester) is prescribed only for absolute indications. Lactating women should stop breastfeeding.
Side effects
At use of high doses - oppression of pituitary function (pituitary secretion of ACTH), decrease in thymus activity and cortisol formation, gluconeogenesis activation, negative nitrogen balance, growth inhibition in children, subcapsular cataracts, increased intraocular pressure, petechiae, erosive and ulcerative gastrointestinal disorders, menstrual disturbances Cycle, edema, increased blood pressure, aseptic necrosis of bones.
Dosing and Administration
Inside, from 0.1 mg 3 times a week - up to 0.2 mg per day. Patients with arterial hypertension - 0.05 mg per day. It is recommended to appoint in combination with cortisone (6.25-25 mg per day) or hydrocortisone (5-20 mg per day), especially with substitution therapy.
Precautionary measures
With caution appoint for ulcer disease in history, myasthenia gravis, diverticulitis, recently performed anastomosis of the intestine, propensity to thrombosis and embolism, metastatic carcinoma, tuberculosis (activation of the process is possible), diabetes mellitus (likely decompensation).
