Pharmacotherapy. Local anesthetic with long-lasting (due to methylcellulose) action. Anesthesia occurs 0.5-1.5 minutes after application to the surface of the mucosa and lasts for 15-20 minutes. Compared with tetracaine, the toxic and irritant effect and the negative effect on the course of local pathological processes are less pronounced. Anesthesia of the cornea of the eye is manifested after 20-30 seconds after instillation.

Indications. Surface anesthesia in adults and children over 10 years with various endoscopic studies, for pain relief during short-term operations and manipulations in dental, otorhinolaryngological, urological, gynecological practice. With conservative treatment of pain syndrome caused by superficial pathological processes in dentistry, otorhinolaryngology, etc.

Contraindications. Hypersensitivity.

Dosing. Locally. In endoscopic practice, 0.3% leocaine solution is applied to the mucous membranes immediately before the test. The amount of the drug used for anesthesia at one time is from 2 to 20 ml.

In dentistry - in the form of an application on the surface, subject to surgery, or on the affected area of the oral mucosa for 1-1.5 minutes. For the purpose of arresting the pain syndrome with conservative treatment of dental diseases, the applique is carried out 3-4 times a day. The amount used for anesthesia at one time, from 2-4 cap to 1-2 ml.

In otorhinolaryngology - in the form of appliqués or instillations in the cavity, 1-1.5 min before the beginning of manipulation.

In gynecology - in the form of an application on the mucosa, which is subject to prompt intervention. The amount used for anesthesia at one time, from 2-4 cap to 1-2 ml. If necessary, during the surgical procedure, the applications are repeated (depending on the duration of the operation and individual tolerability of the patient). The maximum dose of the drug in all cases should not exceed 30 ml per day.

Side effect. Allergic reactions; numbness, burning in the place of application.
