pharmachologic effect

Has glucocorticoid activity.

Pharmacodynamics

Eliminates edema, flushing, itching at the site of application.

Indications

Psoriasis (except for common plaque), chronic eczema, flat lichen, discoid lupus erythematosus, skin diseases that are not amenable to the effects of other steroids.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity; Acne pink and youthful; Perioral dermatitis, skin infections viral (simple herpes), fungal (candidiasis), bacterial (impetigo); Perianal and genital itching; Dermatosis in children under 1 year (including dermatitis and rash with diaper rash).

pregnancy and lactation

With caution, tk. There is no sufficient data on the safety of use during pregnancy and lactation.

Side effects

With prolonged use - atrophic changes on the face and other areas of the body (warts, thinning of the skin, vasodilation), weakening of the barrier functions of the skin, rarely - the emergence of a pustular form of psoriasis.

Dosing and Administration

Outwardly. Cream and ointment applied a thin layer on the affected skin 1-2 times a day before the onset of improvement. Treatment can not be conducted more than 4 weeks without an assessment of the need for its continuation. With exacerbations of skin diseases, repeated short courses of treatment with Dermovate® are possible. If continued therapy with glucocorticoids is necessary, less active drugs should be used. In particularly resistant cases, especially with hyperkeratosis, the anti-inflammatory effect of the cream and Dermovate® ointment can be enhanced by applying an occlusive dressing overnight to the affected area with a PE film. After this, the achieved improvement is supported by the use of the drug without an occlusive dressing.

Overdose

It manifests as signs of hypercorticism (requiring the drug to be withdrawn).

Precautionary measures

In the absence of improvement within 2-4 weeks, one should question the correctness of the diagnosis. In case of exacerbations, short repeated courses are necessary. In patients with psoriasis, the barrier function of the skin may be weakened, pustular psoriasis may develop, tolerance develop, relapses may develop. It is necessary to avoid prolonged and uninterrupted use in children, especially in nursing infants. It is possible to suppress the function of the adrenal cortex. In infants, diapers can act as occlusive dressings and increase the absorption of corticosteroids. On the face the drug is used for 5 days and without an occlusive bandage. Before applying a fresh bandage, the skin should be cleaned. Heat and humidity created by hermetically sealed (occlusive) dressings, contribute to the emergence of bacterial infection. Accession of bacterial infection requires discontinuation of the use of the drug and the appointment of antibiotic therapy. The drug should not fall into the eye (glaucoma may develop). Long-term use of large amounts (or large areas) can lead to systemic absorption (hypercorticism).
