Pharmachologic effect

Mode of action - antiulcer.

It is an analogue of endogenous PG E1, inhibits basal, stimulated and nocturnal secretion of gastric juice, reduces its volume and proteolytic activity. It prevents the development of erosive and ulcerative gastrointestinal lesions when administered with NSAIDs. Protects the gastric mucosa, promotes the healing of peptic ulcers.

Indication for the Cytotec

Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, ulcers caused by the use of NSAIDs (treatment and prevention).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, severe hepatic impairment, pregnancy.

Side effects

Abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia, flatulence, diarrhea (light forms), vomiting, constipation; Skin rash, headache, rarely - hypermenorrhea, menstrual disorders, convulsions (single cases in women in the pre- or post-menopausal period).

Dosing and Administration

Inside, during meals to treat ulcers (stomach, duodenal ulcers caused by NSAIDs) - 800 mcg per day in 2-4 doses for 4-8 weeks (primary course); For the prevention of NSAID-induced ulcers - 200 mcg 2-4 times a day.
