Structure and Composition

1 ml of eyedrops contains timolol maleate 2.5 or 5 mg; in bottles of 5 ml, in the box one bottle.

pharmachologic effect

Mode of action - antiglaucoma.

Beta-adrenoceptor blocking, reduces the formation of intraocular fluid.

Clinical pharmacology

Action develops after 20 minutes, reaching a maximum after 2-4 h and maintained for 24 hours.

Indications

Glaucoma (open-secondary), ocular hypertension.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, sinus bradycardia, AV block degree II-III congestive heart failure.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

When pregnancy is possible if the expected effect of therapy outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. During the period of breast-feeding with caution.

Side effects

Cardio-vascular system and blood (blood, hemostasis): bradycardia, AV block, hypotension, cerebrovascular accident, heart failure (rare).

From the nervous system and sensory organs: rarely - headache, weakness, drowsiness, anxiety, depression.

From the digestive tract: dry mouth, anorexia, nausea, dyspepsia.

Allergic reactions: urticaria.

Other: bronchospasm; Local reactions: irritation, dryness or stinging sensation in the eye, the development of point of keratitis, inflammation of the eyelids.

Interaction

Not recommended combined with systemic beta-blockers (possibly increasing side effects), calcium channel blockers and rezerpinsoderzhaschimi drugs (risk of hypotension).

Dosing and Administration

Kongungualno 1-2 drops 2 times a day. Treatment should start with a 0.25% solution, the ineffectiveness is recommended to use 0.5% solution.

Precautionary measures

Caution should be exercised in patients with severe allergic rhinitis, severe degenerative disease of the cornea, diabetes (labile flow) prior to surgery under general anesthesia. During treatment should not wear contact lenses.
