Composition and form of release
1 ml of the solution contains 5 mg of podophyllotoxin in a buffer ethanol solution, in 3.5 ml vials.
pharmachologic effect
Pharmacological action - antitumor.
Deceleration of cell division, destruction of tumor cells, a decrease in the severity of inflammatory reactions, necrotizing genital warts.
Indications
Genital warts of the external genitalia in women and men.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, age (up to 12 years).
pregnancy and lactation
Contraindicated.
Side effects
Local irritation of the treated areas (itching, burning); inflammation of the glans penis and foreskin; the appearance of sores.
Dosing and Administration
Before applying the solution, the affected areas should be thoroughly rinsed with water and dried. The solution is applied with a cotton swab on the condyloma (should not fall on surrounding tissues or mucous membranes). Contact with healthy skin is prevented by the preliminary application of Vaseline or zinc ointment on these sites. After application, allow to dry for a few minutes. The solution does not require flushing. Apply 2 times a day (with an interval of 12 hours) for three consecutive days. Then a break in treatment should be followed for 4 days. Therapy should continue until the disappearance of the condyloma, but the maximum treatment period should not exceed 5 weeks. In case of external application and recommended use and dosage, general effects on the body should not be expected. Treatment can be carried out at home.
Precautionary measures
The solution is intended solely for the treatment of genital warts and should not be used to treat birthmarks or other warts. Do not use with simultaneous treatment with drugs containing podophyllin. In case of contact with the eye mucosa immediately rinse with water. During treatment, patients should avoid excessive drinking. Male patients before the full recovery should use condoms. It is necessary to examine and, if necessary, treat two partners.
