Pharmachologic effect

Mode of action - antiparkinsonian.

Selectively blocks MAO B, inhibits the metabolism of dopamine and increases its concentration in the extrapyramidal system.

Pharmacokinetics

Side effects

Interaction

Incompatible with fluoxetine, sympathomimetics, drugs, depressing central nervous system, alcohol. Efficacy increases levodopa (in combination with peripheral inhibitors of decarboxylase). Amantadine and anticholinergic drugs increase the incidence of adverse reactions.

Dosing and Administration

Cognitiv 5 mg: 1-2 tablets. In the morning (after breakfast) or 1 table. After breakfast and 1 table. after lunch.

Cognitiv 10 mg: 1 table. In the morning (after breakfast). The maximum dose is 10 mg.

With combined therapy with levodopa, the dosage of the latter can be reduced by 10-30% in the first 2-3 days.

Precautionary measures

Do not prescribe to patients receiving antidepressant drugs (tricyclic, fluoxetine). It should not be combined with levodopa with arterial hypertension, thyrotoxicosis, pheochromocytoma, narrow-angle glaucoma, prostate adenoma, tachyarrhythmia, severe angina, psychosis, dementia (progressive). Do not use during work drivers of vehicles and people whose profession is associated with increased concentration of attention.
