Composition and form of release
Gel for external use 2.5% 1 g
ketoprofen 25 mg
auxiliary substances: ethyl alcohol rectified; nipagin; carbomer; trometamol; lavender oil; non-germ oil; purified water
in tubes of 30 or 50 g; in the box 1 tuba.
Description of dosage form
A colorless, almost transparent gel with a specific odor. Opalescence is allowed.
pharmachologic effect
Pharmacological action - anti-inflammatory, analgesic.
Pharmacodynamics
Inhibits cyclooxygenase 1 and 2, inhibits the synthesis of PG. It has anti-bradykinin activity, stabilizes lysosomal membranes. Reduces the secretion of cytokines, inhibits the activity of neutrophils. With articular syndrome, it alleviates joint pain at rest and during movement, reduces morning stiffness and swelling of the joints, contributes to an increase in the volume of movements.
Pharmacokinetics
With epilation of gel applications, extremely slow transdermal absorption of ketoprofen occurs, which ensures that its concentration in inflamed tissues is maintained within the therapeutic level for a long time. It penetrates well into the synovial fluid and connective tissue. Absorption into the systemic blood flow is insignificant, bioavailability is about 5%. Practically does not cumulate.
Indications
Painful inflammatory or traumatic lesions of joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles (arthritis, periarthritis, tendinitis, tendosinovitis, bursitis, bruises, ligament injuries, dislocations, knee meniscus, torticollis, lumbago); phlebitis, periphlebitis.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to ketoprofen or other components of the drug, dermatoses, eczema, infected abrasions and wounds, pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding, children's age.
Side effects
In individual patients, in all cases, allergic reactions are possible (require the abolition of therapy), photosensitization.
Interaction
At present, no interaction of ketoprofen with a dermal application with other medications has been identified.
Dosing and Administration
Locally, apply to the skin, squeezing from the tube about 3-5 cm of gel or more (depending on the area of the painful area), distribute a uniform thin layer and gently rub into the inflamed and painful areas of the body until it is completely absorbed. Apply 2 times a day. In order to increase the effectiveness of therapy, it is possible to apply a dry occlusive bandage.
