Pharmachologic effect

Mode of action - Immunostimulating.

Forms active specific immunity to meningococcus (Neisseria meningitidis) serogroups A and C.

Pharmacodynamics

The vaccine induces immunity (persists for 3 years after vaccination) only against meningitis caused by meningococcus serogroups A and C; Does not provide protection against purulent meningitis of a different etiology: group B meningococci, Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and others.

Contraindications

Application of pregnancy and breastfeeding

Vaccination during pregnancy and lactation can be carried out in case of high risk of infection (harmlessness of vaccine prevention of meningococcal infection of serogroups A and C in pregnant women is not established).

Side effects

During the first 3 days after vaccination, sometimes (mostly in children than in adults) there is a slight reddening at the injection site, hyperthermia (rapidly passing after taking antipyretics), irritability, weakness.

Dosing and Administration

SC or IM, a single injection to adults or children, starting at 18 months of age. Before use, the lyophilizate vaccine is dissolved using the supplied solvent.

Precautionary measures

Vaccination of infants older than 3 months is possible in case of their contact with persons infected with meningococcus. The entire diluted vaccine is immediately used; The syringe (packaging) after use is destroyed.
